Learn woodturning in a relaxed, friendly workshop environment, with personal guidance every step of the way.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or have some experience already, one-to-one lessons are tailored to your interests and ability. You’ll learn how to use the lathe and tools safely, understand the characteristics of different woods, and develop the skills to create your own turned pieces.
Woodturning is a wonderful way to slow down, be creative and enjoy working with your hands. There’s real satisfaction in taking a piece of timber and gradually revealing the shape and beauty hidden within it.
My aim is to help you build confidence, enjoy the process and, most importantly, have a rewarding experience at the lathe.
One-to-one woodturning lessons
All lessons are provided on a one-to-one basis, giving you my full attention and the opportunity to learn at your own pace.
Whether you’re taking your first steps on the lathe or looking to develop existing skills, each session is tailored to your ability, interests and what you’d like to achieve.
There is no pressure to rush. We work at a pace that suits you, allowing plenty of time to practise, ask questions and build confidence.
All personal protective equipment (PPE), tools and materials are provided and included in the lesson price. You can simply come along and enjoy the experience of woodturning
Woodturning Lessons options include;
Make a Bowl
A full-day course focusing entirely on making a finished wooden bowl.
One-Day Beginner
An introduction to woodturning covering the lathe, tools and safety. You’ll work through a series of beginner projects and, by the end of the day, have completed several exercises and made a couple of small projects to take home.
One-Day Tailored
Designed for those with some woodturning experience who would like to improve or extend their skills. Topics can be tailored to your interests and may include bowls, platters, finishing, colour and texture, or carving a turned piece.
